Lowrey Elementary Chess Team - District Champs
LMS Chess Team - District Champs
This year Lowrey Middle School again participated in the Dearborn Middle School Chess League. Lowrey had tournaments against Unis, Bryant, O.L. Smith, Woodworth and Salina. Lowrey had an exceptional chess season with a final record of 10-0. The chess team worked hard all season practicing after school at team practices and on their lunch hours. What makes this year’s championship even more special is that the group of students that went 10-0 this year is the same group that won the elementary chess championship for Lowrey in 2005 (they were also undefeated in that season). The Lowrey staff and students are very proud of this outstanding achievement. The chess team members are: Hussein Elkhozai, Hamzeh Khachiche, Hussein Saad, Danny Bazzi, Ali Joni, Ali Nasser, Mohamed Saleh, Kamal Faouzi, Hassan Al-Alehi, Dhia Mohammad.
Coach Barlow
When you know your child is going to be leaving early, please notify the office in the morning to avoid classroom interruptions. Also, please remember – when dropping items off for students, the office WILL NOT call the classroom. Students are responsible for checking for items in the office.
ENTRY/EXIT INTO THE BUILDING:
All parents are to use the main entry doors in the front of the school when picking up students. We have a large number of parents knocking on doors trying to get in. For safety reasons, students and staff have been instructed not to open doors for ANYONE.
VISITORS:
All visitors to Lowrey School (including parents) are required to check in at the main office and obtain a visitor’s pass in order to be in the building. Staff members have been instructed to direct all visitors not wearing a visitors pass to the main office to check in. Furthermore, all teachers have been instructed not to allow any visitors in the classrooms without a visitors pass.
PICKING UP OF STUDENTS FROM CLASSROOMS:
In the past, parents have entered the building and waited outside their child’s classroom to pick them up from school. Lowrey Administration has asked that parents no longer do this. Parents will be permitted to wait for their child in the main lobby. Students will be brought down to the lobby by their teachers for dismissal.
