Public Service Days in Full Swing

In January 2008, the City of Dearborn started a new program for cleaning neighborhoods called Public Service Days. Public Service days happen twice a month for Dearborn residents: once on their trash pickup day that falls during the first full week of each month, and again on their trash pickup day two weeks later at the same month. The 2009 City of Dearborn calendar, mailed to all households, has a complete schedule for each neighborhood. The City of Dearborn is asking all residents to please keep their vehicles off the street from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on your Public Service Days. Parked vehicles not moved off the street during a neighborhood’s scheduled Public Service Day will be subject to ticketing and towing.  On Public Service Days, neighborhoods will get a concentrated does of city services – everything from street sweeping to tree trimming to catch basin cleaning. For neighborhoods to get the full benefit of this program – for example, curb-to-curb street sweeping – vehicles can’t be parked on the street during Public Service Days.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS

Kul am w’antum b’khair! I hope you had a relaxing and blessed holiday. The cold weather is already creeping in.  Please be sure to send a jacket with your children in the morning.  Also, students are not allowed to wait inside the building (unless it is raining or the temperature falls below 25 degrees Fahrenheit).  For this reason, please be sure to notice how your children are leaving the house each morning and try to drop them off as close to 7:50 a.m. as possible.

Administrators, teachers and students have been working extra hard in preparing for the MEAP test which will begin on October 14th.  Please be sure your children are going to bed early and are eating breakfast in the morning.  Also, it is important to ask them questions about how they are doing on this test each day.  Your concern and acknowledgment will solidify the importance of this test.

Lastly, I would love for all of you to show your Lowrey School spirit by supporting your children at their sporting events.  There is no greater feeling for children than to have your presence at their games cheering them on.  I look forward to seeing ALL of you in the stands…GO LOWREY! Please be sure to mark your calendars for these sporting events that are listed in the “Dates to Remember” section to your left. Also, please show your support by attending our first PTA meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the PTA room.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rima Younes

Middle School Assistant Principal
