In honor of March is Reading month and Dr. Seuss’s belated birthday, the 4th grade team partnered up different students to drop everything and read in the hallway. The students were so engaged and loved it!
On Thursday, March 15th Lowrey had a meeting for Kindergarten and 1st grade parents. Parents were informed about the Read by Third grade law. In addition, parents were provided with helpful websites to help their children at home. They were also informed about the support that is available to students during the school day/after school. Our school/parent partnership is a collaborative effort to ensure all of our students are reading at grade level.
Thank You March Readers! Thank you Mayor O’Reilly, Jr, Judge Adel Harb, Dr. Jill Chochol, Judge Sam Salamey, Judge David D. Turfe, Magistrate Yvonna Abraham, Officer Foyid Mockbil and Fordson’s Girls & Boys Basketball Team for reading to our students! We appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to read to our future leaders! More readers coming soon!!!
For Mrs. Skaf’s 6th grade unit on climate change, her students first explored and analyzed data about climate. They then explored green careers, discussed what they can do to help, researched the drastic changes in climate that are affecting Polar Bears, and wrote letters to politicians proving to them that climate change is real based on evidence they collected from their research. The students were not only engaged in creating the project, but are now motivated to make a difference and help save our planet!
Great Job Polar Bears!
