Principal’s Request
Many families plan to visit overseas during the summer months. Children leaving school before the semester ends and returning after school begins present problems for the school and negatively impacts students’ learning and their readiness in the fall. Teachers also administer all students exit and District exams at the end of May. It is imperative that the students complete these tests which are necessary for the following year’s placement. In addition to the exit and District exams, the state exams are in the early fall and the students need instruction in school until June 9 for elementary school and June 10 for middle school to help them prepare for this test. When students complete their school year and start on time at the beginning of the school year, they become better prepared for the state tests that are in the early fall.
Summer vacation is scheduled from June 10th until September 8th and is ample time for families to schedule their visits. We cannot guarantee that students will complete the requirements for the next grade if they leave school at an earlier date. We thank you in advance for your understanding and your cooperation.
Early Arrival
I am noticing that students are being dropped off sooner than they should and not being picked up on time. To avoid any problems that may potentially occur, we are re-asking that you are diligent in dropping your children off as close to 7:50 a.m. and picking them up as close to 3:00 p.m. for middle school. NO STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING BEFORE 7:50 (unless it is for tutoring or detention). All middle school students MUST BE OFF SCHOOL GROUNDS by 3:10 p.m. Students are not allowed to linger in the hallways or wait on the playground; we have elementary students outside for recess at this time and it causes a great disturbance for the teachers and students who are out there. Elementary students should be dropped off as close to 8:35 a.m. and picked up as close to 3:40 p.m. There is no adult supervision for students before school hours. I thank you in advance for your cooperation and effort in working together to maintain that Lowrey School is a safe and wonderful place.
Thank you again!!
