This year for the first time, Lowrey school participated in Green Day to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). On March 16, we invited our students to wear green and donate a minimum of $1.00 to the MDA. All donators received shamrock shaped cutouts with their name on them and were displayed in the school….

Lowrey Middle School has won 3rd place in the Detroit Zoological Society(DZS)’s GREEN SOLUTION Contest! In honor of March is Reading month and Dr. Seuss’s belated birthday, the 4th grade team partnered up different students to drop everything and read in the hallway. The students were so engaged and loved it!    

On Thursday, March 15th Lowrey had a meeting for Kindergarten and 1st grade parents. Parents were informed about the Read by Third grade law. In addition, parents were provided with helpful websites to help their children at home. They were also informed about the support that is available to students during the school day/after school….

For Mrs. Skaf’s  6th grade unit on climate change, her students first explored and analyzed data about climate. They then explored green careers, discussed what they can do to help, researched the drastic changes in climate that are affecting Polar Bears, and wrote letters to politicians proving to them that climate change is real based…
